Golf Holidays in Portugal

Traveling to Portugal is most easily done by plane. There are international airports in Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Madeira (Funchal) and on the Azores (Ponta Delgada).
Portugal and the islands are a member of the EU and entry for EU citizens is problem-free. For citizens of other nations, check the entry requirements.

There are a large number of excellent golf courses in Portugal. The vast majority of courses are located in the Algarve, followed by the Lisbon region.
However, Porto, Madeira and the Azores also have exciting courses to offer golfers, so Portugal has established itself as an attractive destination for golf holidays in Europe.

The climate in Portugal is suitable for golf travel all year round. The Algarve is especially recommended as a destination to extend the summer endlessly or to start golf in early spring after the winter break. For Lisbon and Porto, spring and autumn are the best times for golfers. Madeira and the Azores offer good conditions for a golf vacation all year round.

Portugal's gastronomy is as rich and varied as its landscape. Freshly caught fish, shellfish and seafood are the main ingredients, possibly prepared in the well known cataplana cook ware. Excellent meat, fresh fruit and vegetables, exquisite olive oil and excellent wines - Portugal's cuisine is simply authentic and fresh.

The best way to get around Portugal is by rental car. The road network is well developed and traffic is moderate. Car rental stations are located at the airports and in various cities.
