Vale de Lobo offers two exceptional golfing challenges: the Royal Course and the Ocean Course. Both courses are based on concepts of the legendary Sir Henry Cotton and were built by the American architect Rocky Roquemore.

On the Royal Course, hole 16 is the most photographed hole in Europe, a par 3 that requires a cliff crossing.

The Ocean Course is a links-style course right on the Atlantic Ocean. Undulating and sandy fairways follow biotopes along the coastline and provide spectacular views of the ocean.

Quinta do Lago, with its three courses Quinta do Lago North, Quinta do Lago South and Laranjal, as well as the associated golf resort, is one of the most famous golf addresses not only in Portugal, but in all of Europe. Situated between Vilamoura and Faro, it is located on the edge of the Ria Formosa nature reserve.

Quinta do Lago South, voted among the top 100 in Europe by Golf World Magazine, opened in 1974 and was designed by William Mitchell. The European Tour has held the Portugal Open here several times.

The spectacular Quinta do Lago North is characterized by undulating greens, treacherous bunkers and several water hazards.

Laranjal opened in 2009. Nestled in an orange grove that gave the course its name, it also meets the famously high standards of neighboring Quinta do Lago North and Quinta do Lago South.

Vilamoura is where some of the Algarve's top courses are concentrated in such a way that nothing really stands in the way of a beautiful and varied golfing vacation. In addition to a great choice of hotels, there are five great courses that belong to Dom Pedro Golf. Generous practice facilities on all courses round off the possibilities for golfers of all levels in an excellent way.

 Old Course Vilamoura was opened in 1969 and re-designed in 1996. It is still considered the "Grande Dame" of golf courses in the Algarve and is reminiscent of a classic British course.

 Laguna Vilamoura has many of the features of a links course, and wind is also a frequent companion. Numerous lakes and bunkers provide additional challenges. Built in 1990 by Joseph Lee, the challenging Laguna is one of the top courses in the Algarve.

 Millennium Vilamoura is part of a luxurious hotel complex and with its typical pine groves is suitable for golfers of all levels. In 2000, the Millennium Golf Course was completely redesigned by British golf architects Hawtree and Sons.

 Victoria Vilamoura by Arnold Palmer Design was opened in 2004 and is located close to the Hilton Hotel and shares the landscape with vacation homes. It's a beautiful course that features water as well as wide variety in its greens.

 At Pinhal Vilamoura, the name says it all. Numerous pine trees line the way on this course, which was redesigned by Robert Trent Jones in 1985. Wonderful panoramic views of the sea can be seen through the pines.

Also located in Quinta do Lago, San Lorenzo GC stands out both for its natural beauty and for its golfing challenge. The typical pine forests of the Algarve, a breathtaking sea view and the mountains in the background characterize the environment of the San Lorenzo Golf Course. A large part of the course is defined by the Ria Formosa nature reserve.  

In 2007, the first Jack Nicklaus-designed signature golf course opened at Monte Rei Golf Resort, with an equally spectacular counterpart, the South Course, to follow in 2022.
Monte Rei's North Course was the first Jack Nicklaus golf course in Portugal and was built into the picturesque foothills of the Eastern Algarve. The unique and challenging design definitely features water on eleven of the eighteen holes. Exclusive are not only the golf course and the associated resort, but also the entire service at Monte Rei Golf Resort.

Located between Portimao and Albufeira, the Faldo Amendoeira Golf Course has been delighting golfers from all over the world since 2016. Strategic play is particularly in demand on the course, which won a World Golf Award as Portugal's best golf course.
The golf resort's second course, designed by Christy O'Connor Jnr, complements the neighboring Faldo course and also benefits from its location in the very fertile valley. Both lakes and watercourses, which extend throughout the course, require precise play.

Palmares Golf is a unique combination of rolling hills and flat areas with stunning views over the cliffs of the Algarve. The course almost perfectly combines the two different landscapes of a links and inland course. This jewel was given a new lease of life when Robert Trent Jones Jr. rebuilt and expanded the course from 18 to 27 holes.

Located within the Ria Formosa Natural Park, the 27 holes of the Pinheiros Altos Course are divided into 3 sets of 9 holes. Oliveiras (olive trees), Pinheiros (pine trees) and Sobreiros (cork oaks) invite you to play and inspire you with all the different characteristics for both professionals and beginners.

The Boavista Golf Course in Lagos blends harmoniously into its natural surroundings. Architect Howard Swan integrated the course into the terrain in 2002 as if it had always been part of the landscape. Pines, almond trees, palms, olive and fig trees line the fairways, which in turn wind around water hazards and carefully constructed bunkers.

The eco-resort Golf Espiche is located about 5 minutes from Lagos, in a nature reserve. The slightly hilly terrain with numerous water hazards was built in 2012 by Peter Sauermann. A unique and authentic golf experience in the western Algarve is offered not only by the beautiful course, but also by the award-winning clubhouse.

Close to the spacious beach of Galé, between Pera and Albufeira, the Salagos Golf Course is located in a nature reserve rich in species. With its flat layout near the beach, it strongly reminds of a links course and because of the proximity to the sea, the golfer’s skills are fully challenged, especially on windy days. Numerous water hazards require precise play, but this is often distracted by the many birds that can be seen in large numbers in the low-lying wetlands.
