The hilly golf courses can be quite challenging but when playing along the coast, the views over the wild ocean make the game all worthwhile! The inland golf courses nestle between the magnificent mountains and some of which are surrounded by vineyards. Because of the wet winters the greens are always in perfect condition.

The ancient province of Navarre has a lot of history to offer. The Romans settled in and around Pamplona. In this lively old town, restaurants invite you to enjoy traditional dishes and lovely noble wines from the region. Lots of pilgrims stay overnight here on the St. James Way to Santiago de Compostela. There are four golf courses near Pamplona. The Club de Golf de Ulzama is a very challenging and popular course. The second 9 holes are rated to be one of the best in Spain.
The Basque country
The Basque country offers breathtaking nature with ancient beech and oak forests, lagoons and wetlands. There are some spectacular golf courses such as Uraburu Golf which is situated on a mountain and surrounded by breathtaking scenery . This golf course is not far from Bilbao.
Rioja - Golf in the middle of the famous wine region
There are over 500 vineyards in the small province of Rioja. The St. James Way cuts through this region heading for Santiago de Compostela. The Spanish language is supposed to have originated from the monasteries of Suso and Yuso which are listed as UNESCO world heritage sites. The golf Club de Golf Sojuela is a very challenging course and excellent cuisine can be enjoyed at the clubhouse. At the Rioja Alta Golf Club you can enjoy a pleasant game of golf washed down with excellent local wine.
Spectacular views of the Cantabrian coastline
The Campo Municipal de Golf Mataleñas in Santander has the most spectacular views over the wild ocean. The 9-hole course is located near the city on a cliff and offers amazing views at every hole. The Golf Santa Marina is a very demanding hilly course. As well as golf, this area has ideal conditions for kite surfing and windsurfing. The cathedral and the castle on the peninsula of La Magdalena shouldn’t be missed! The Real Golf de Pedreña is also a challenging course with spectacular views. The Club de Golf Nestares, located in the south of the province, nestles in the enchanting mountains and is an unforgettable experience!
Asturias and Galicia - Wild romantic nature meets well-kept greenery
Asturias, with its lush green valleys, rugged coastal cliffs and well maintained golf courses is a destination that shouldn’t be missed. The Golf Municipal de Llanes, is located directly at the coast and offers a breathtaking panorama.
The milder climate of Galicia is considered to be very similar to Ireland. The province is surrounded by mountains and has some beautiful golf courses, making the journey to the north of Spain ver worthwhile. The golf course Golf Balneario de Mondariz offers a wonderful mountain panorama. The Real Club de Golf de La Coruña is very demanding and very worthwhile playing with its stunning and lush surroundings. Santiago de Compostela is the end of the St. James Pilgrim Way as well as being a spectacular city to visit.
