Estonians’ Golf Trip to Ireland: A Coastal Golfing Adventure

In August, a group of Estonian golfers with our tour leader Grete Vällo took off to experience the charm of Ireland's east coast, with an unforgettable stay at the scenic Portmarnock Hotel. Their trip combined world-class links golf, local cuisine, and Ireland’s famously unpredictable weather, offering them the full Irish golfing experience.

The Estonians began their golf journey at Seapoint Links, a beautiful coastal course with stunning views of the Irish Sea. Despite facing some strong winds, the group enjoyed the course’s challenging layout and natural beauty. Next, they tackled Corballis Links, known for its rugged dunes and more intimate setting.

Their stay wouldn’t have been complete without playing the renowned Portmarnock Hotel Links, a championship course that seamlessly combines luxury with the untamed beauty of a true links experience. Finally, they played at Howth Links, located on the picturesque Howth Peninsula, where stunning views of Dublin Bay and the surrounding cliffs provided the perfect backdrop for their final round.

Off the course, the Estonians explored the local culinary scene in the charming coastal village of Malahide. With its vibrant restaurants and fresh seafood, they enjoyed the warm Irish hospitality and relaxed by the sea after long days on the greens.

The weather offered them a classic Irish mix of wind, rain, and sunshine throughout the trip, making their golf rounds challenging yet exhilarating. Despite the weather’s unpredictability, the Estonian golfers embraced every moment, leaving with memories of both the stunning courses and the unique coastal experience that only Ireland can offer.

Ireland as a Golf Destination

Ireland is a world-renowned golf destination that attracts both professionals and amateur players with its challenging links courses. The east coast, particularly the Dublin region, offers a wealth of top-tier golf courses. Among the top courses are the historic Portmarnock Golf Club and the Royal Dublin Golf Club, both known for their challenging layouts and breathtaking ocean views. Other notable courses include the County Louth Golf Club (Baltray) and The Island Golf Club, both of which are also among the best in Ireland and offer unparalleled golfing experiences.

Additionally, Ireland’s rich cultural heritage and scenic landscapes enhance the overall experience for visitors. The country is known for its friendly locals, who embody the spirit of "Céad míle fáilte" (a hundred thousand welcomes). Whether it's the serene countryside, dramatic cliffs, or bustling cities, Ireland’s diverse environments provide a stunning backdrop for any golf vacation.
